The Chosen One by Carol Lynch Williams

Thirteen-year-old Kyra is part of a polygamous sect, obedient to her father, his wives, and God's will as interpreted by their prophet. When the prophet says she must marry her sixty-year-old uncle, Kyra begins to imagine a life outside her secluded community. The immediacy of Kyra's first-person perspective heightens the story's emotional impact. Readers will hold their breath, hoping for her freedom.

Kyra seems to think there is something wrong with the way she ha lived her whole life. That thought is confirmed when she is ‘chosen’ to marry her uncle who is in his 60’s while she is thirteen.
She has lived in a polygamous compound all her life and wants nothing more than to be out when she is chosen for her uncle. She makes a good attempt at getting out once, but only to be caught a few mile don the road. After being brought back and severely beaten he finally make her escape to the nearest town where she lives in foster care.
