Hate List by Jennifer Brown

Bullied by their classmates, outcasts Valerie and Nick compile a "hate list." To Valerie's horror, the list serves as a roster for Nick's school shooting spree. Set post-massacre and powered by flashbacks, the story intimately explores Valerie's struggle to cope with the tragedy, including coming to terms with her complicated feelings for Nick and understanding her role in the violence.

This is so far my favorite book on the list! I felt sorry for Valerie and I was just hoping she'd change after he suicidal boyfriend took charge in the Commons of her high school and shot and killed multiple people, including himself because of a Hate List that was just supposed to be between him and Valerie. Val didn't mean for this tohappen, she didn't know Nick was serious all those times. Yeah seh got picked on but she didn't want anyone to get hurt. At the beginning Val is a suspect. But once she gets cleared her normal life doesn't get back to the way it was before. Her dad's having an affair, her mom is constantly feaking out, and they are always fighting! Until Jessica(Val saved her from being shot) invites Val to join StuCo on making a memorial. Becoming friends with Jessica changed Val. She eventually made plans for after high school and apologized to all the families affected by the May Second shooting.
